Pattern Master creates garment patterns from a designer's sketches or samples, ensuring the patterns accurately translate the design into a physical product with proper fit and style. They also modify and grade these patterns for different sizes, conduct fittings, and collaborate with design and production teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize the pattern for manufacturing and fabric use. This role requires a strong understanding of garment construction, fabric behavior, and proficiency with both manual and digital pattern-making tools (CAD).
Key ResponsibilitiesPattern Creation: Draft original patterns from fashion sketches, tech packs, or physical samples. Pattern Grading: Create and adjust patterns for a full range of sizes, ensuring consistent fit and quality. Fittings & Adjustments: Participate in garment fittings and make necessary pattern modifications based on feedback. Technical Collaboration: Work closely with designers, sample makers, and production teams to ensure patterns are manufacturable and align with quality standards. Digital Tools: Utilize CAD software for pattern development and modification. Quality & Efficiency: Ensure patterns are production-ready, minimize fabric wastage, and optimize sewing efficiency. Pattern Management: Maintain pattern archives and update associated datasheets. Essential Skills & QualificationsTechnical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of garment construction, fabric properties, and various pattern-making techniques. CAD Proficiency: Ability to use CAD software like Gerber, Lectra, or Optitex for digital pattern making. Attention to Detail: A keen eye for accuracy in measurements, pattern lines, and seam allowances. Communication: Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve technical challenges during the pattern and prototype development process. Time Management: Skill in meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
