Job Description
Position Summary
Fluence is seeking a detail-oriented
CAD Mechanical Engineer with 34 years of hands-on experience in
PTC Creo and AutoCAD to support product design, manufacturing documentation, and engineering change management activities. The role involves developing detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and supporting cross-functional engineering teams in delivering high-quality mechanical designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify 3D parts and assemblies using PTC Creo.
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
- Develop:
- General Arrangement (GA) drawings
- Fabrication drawings
- Assembly drawings
- Sheet metal drawings
- Weldment drawings
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Apply GD&T as per ASME/ISO standards.
- Support Engineering Change Requests (ECR/ECO) and drawing revisions.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
- Perform drawing reviews to ensure accuracy, tolerances, and manufacturability.
- Maintain CAD data in PLM/PDM systems (Windchill preferred).
- Ensure compliance with internal drafting standards and design guidelines.
- Provide shop-floor and prototype build support when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 34 years of experience in mechanical CAD drafting/design.
- Strong proficiency in:
- PTC Creo (Part, Assembly, Sheet Metal, Drawing modules)
- AutoCAD (2D Drafting)
- Good understanding of:
- GD&T
- Sheet metal & fabrication processes
- Welding standards
- Manufacturing processes (CNC, laser cutting, bending)
Preferred Skills
- Experience in enclosure, cabinet, or structural frame design.
- Knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Understanding of corrosion protection and surface finishes.
- Exposure to electrical panel coordination.
- Experience in battery energy storage or power equipment industry.
