Your role and responsibilities

In this role, Purchases materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures.

The work model for the role is: #Li-Onsite.

This role is contributing to the ABB India, Smart Power. Electrification Business as Buyer for Nelamangala, Bangalore Region, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Manage end-to-end material planning and order management, including generating purchase orders, scheduling material supply, and ensuring availability of components to meet production requirements while maintaining safety stock levels.

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, Bill of Materials (BOM) integrity, and MRP/ERP systems, ensuring accurate data, timely updates, and effective resolution of material shortages impacting production schedules.

  • Oversee goods receipt and supplier coordination, ensuring timely delivery verification, GRN preparation, invoice processing, and alignment with production timelines and requirements.

  • Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, purchasing, and SCM teams, aligning supplier orders with customer demand, project requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.

  • Manage supplier relationships, inbound logistics, and import procurement processes, including supplier visits, issue resolution (quantity, rejection, payments), coordination with freight forwarders, and adherence to Incoterms and international procurement standards.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools, with working knowledge of ERP systems for order and demand management.

  • Demonstrated experience in customer demand alignment, tracking production volumes and aligning supplier orders with ERP/SOP or project requirements in terms of quantity, quality, delivery, sustainability, and cost.

  • Ensure process compliance in procurement and logistics activities, following organizational policies and maintaining updates in supplier relationship management platforms such as Pro-Supply.

  • Maintain effective supplier coordination, including routine visits to critical suppliers to resolve issues related to quantities, quality rejections, and payment processing.

  • Manage inventory control and logistics coordination, including handling schedule changes, dead stock liquidation, and transportation planning to ensure timely material availability.
