The Business Intelligence (BI) Architect will help us manage and leverage our enterprise and SaaS product data to make business decisions about what we build, how we help our customers, and how we grow our company. The hands-on BI Data Architect will analyze the data needs of the company, partner with leadership, and use skills to define, design, and implement a scalable business intelligence framework. The ideal candidate combines the ability to operate and evolve the data pipelines as well as perform data analysis tasks and will work closely with our engineering, systems, and product teams to improve the way we collect, structure, and store data in our BI framework. This role will work with our analysts, leadership, and business teams to understand objectives, using business language to get them the data they need, the way they want to empower them to make informed business decisions.We are building our data practice from the ground up, so you will have the opportunity to work on a new modern data engineering tech stack with room for professional growth.
Responsibilities
Takes responsibility for analysis, solution design, and architecture of complete business intelligence lifecycle (reporting, dashboards, data integration, data warehouse, data mart, and information delivery)
Improve data collection and storage practices to enhance the value of our internal pipelines and data flows
Interview business users and document data reporting and analysis requirements, develop ELT, data models, and dashboards
Design and implement a strategy and systems for data analysis, reporting, querying, and visualization to enable internal and external partners to explore our data via self-service, answer their questions, and make informed decisions
Identifies components of business intelligence logical architecture strategy and defines their relationship to the mission of the business intelligence organization
Mentors technical team leads and engineers in business intelligence-related architectural issues and best practicesT
akes responsibility for business intelligence and data warehouse blueprints and integrating systemsImplements a self-service business intelligence strategy
Evaluates existing and emerging technologies and provides recommendations on integration within systems and best practices
Translates business needs into a long-term information architecture solution
Defines designs and builds dimensional business intelligence for dimensional conformity
Identifies data quality initiatives to rid the system of old, unused, or duplicate data
Renews object and data models and metadata reporting to structure data for better management and quicker access
Manages a working relationship with other analysts, teams, and managers, collaborating on department and project goals and objectives
Works with outside vendors as relates to business intelligence technologies
Requirements
We re looking for someone with 5+ years of proven working experience in data architecture /warehousing, data analysis, data modeling, and reporting for a SaaS company, who wants to be part of our team and achieve big things, who believes in privacy as a mission, and who can both operate independently and help a team be more than the sum of its parts.
-Hands-on experience with data platform migration, data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis -- Business to Business, Business to Consumer, and SaaS business models.
-Hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Experience with database design and implementation
-Experience with gathering and document reporting requirements, with data reporting and visualization tools
-Experience with appropriate programming languages and technologies
-Experience with data modeling, e.g., denormalization, star schema, snowflake, building data pipelines and data models
-Experience with data architecture, e.g., data warehousing, operational data store, data marts, staging
-Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and deployment scripts
-Experience in working with Agile and Lean methodologies
Preferred experience with
-Business applications such as Salesforce, Hubspot, Netsuite, Stripe
-Any SQL DB as a primary data source; NoSQL is a plus
-Fivetran, Snowflake, DBT, High-touch
-Apache Superset, Tableau, or a similar interactive data visualization software
-Basic familiarity with the Python language ecosystem for data analysis and forecasting (SciPy, Pandas, Jupyter, etc.)
-BS in Computer Science / STEM / Economics or equivalent work experience
-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, where change is constant and flexibility is key
