The Business Head will lead the end-to-end P&L, strategy, and growth of the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) business. This role requires a blend of commercial acumen, technical understanding of energy storage, and leadership to scale manufacturing, sales, and partnerships in a rapidly evolving energy ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Strategy & Growth
- Define and execute the overall business strategy for BESS manufacturing and deployment
- Identify new market opportunities (utility-scale, C&I, renewables integration, grid services)
- Drive expansion into domestic and international markets
- Build long-term roadmap aligned with energy transition trends
2. P&L Ownership
- Own revenue, profitability, and cost optimization
- Develop annual operating plans and budgets
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions
3. Sales & Business Development
- Lead sales strategy across key segments (utilities, EPCs, IPPs, industrial clients)
- Build and manage key customer relationships and strategic accounts
- Develop partnerships with renewable developers, grid operators, and government bodies
- Oversee bid management for large-scale projects
4. Manufacturing & Operations Oversight
- Ensure efficient, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes
- Work closely with operations teams to improve productivity, quality, and supply chain resilience
- Drive localization strategies and vendor ecosystem development
5. Product & Technology Leadership
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams on product roadmap
- Ensure competitiveness in battery technologies (Li-ion, LFP, emerging chemistries)
- Track global trends in energy storage, safety standards, and system integration
6. Regulatory & Policy Engagement
- Engage with government and regulatory bodies on policies, incentives, and compliance
- Stay updated on energy regulations, grid codes, and storage mandates
- Represent the company in industry forums
7. Team Leadership
- Build and lead cross-functional teams (sales, operations, strategy)
- Drive a high-performance, innovation-driven culture
- Mentor senior leadership and develop talent pipeline
Key Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Energy preferred)
- MBA or equivalent (preferred)
Experience
- 12–20+ years of experience in energy, power, renewables, or manufacturing
- Strong exposure to battery energy storage / renewables / power systems
- Proven track record in business leadership and scaling operations
- Experience managing large P&L and cross-functional teams
