Business Finance Manager

Role Purpose

The Assistant Manager – Business Finance will support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and decision-making activities for Research & Development (R&D) and Capital Expenditure (Capex) portfolios. The role involves preparation of Annual Operating Plans (AOP), financial analysis, business case development, investment evaluation and providing financial insights to enable strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budgeting

• Lead and coordinate the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process for R&D and Capex functions.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and long-range financial plans in collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Monitor budget utilisation and provide periodic variance analysis against approved plans.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial review processes.

Business Case Preparation

• Develop and evaluate business cases for strategic projects, investments and capital expenditure proposals.
• Perform financial modelling, scenario analysis and sensitivity assessments.
• Assess project returns using relevant investment appraisal techniques such as NPV, IRR, ROCE and Payback Period.
• Present financial recommendations to management for decision-making.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Analyse financial performance and identify key drivers impacting costs and investments.
• Generate meaningful insights and recommendations through management reports and dashboards.
• Support tracking and review of R&D project costs and capital investments.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to business and finance leadership.

Business Partnering

• Collaborate closely with R&D, Project Management, Procurement and other cross-functional teams.
• Act as a finance partner to support cost optimisation initiatives and resource planning.
• Provide financial guidance to stakeholders on budgeting, forecasting and investment decisions.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and accounting guidelines.
• Support internal and external audit requirements related to R&D and Capex processes.
• Maintain appropriate documentation for approvals and financial analysis.

Educational Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (CA)
• CA Freshers to 3 years of post-qualification experience
