Business Development Representative - Commenda

Location: Bangalore In-Office Type: Full-time

The role in one sentence

You own the pipeline between signal and demo - converting warm intent and cold outreach into qualified conversations for our sales team, primarily through LinkedIn and email.

Why this role exists

We've built a meaningful inbound and intent engine. Controllers and finance leads are engaging with our content, attending our webinars, visiting our site, responding to campaigns. The problem isn't demand - it's that nobody owns the conversation from that point forward. That's this role.

You'll work a mix of genuinely warm leads (people who have already engaged with Commenda in some form) and targeted cold outreach into accounts that match our ICP. Your job is to take that signal seriously, say something smart and relevant, and get a demo booked.

What you'll actually do
  • Own outreach to warm leads across LinkedIn and email - people who have visited the site, attended webinars, engaged with content, or been flagged by intent tools
  • Run targeted cold outreach into priority accounts and personas (Controllers, Finance Directors, VPs of Finance at post-Series A companies operating across borders)
  • Use AI tools for enrichment, research, personalization, and sequence strategy - you're not doing manual research; you're directing it
  • Think carefully about messaging. What does this person actually care about What's their trigger Why now
  • Book qualified demos and hand off clearly with context for the sales team
  • Flag patterns - what's resonating, what's not, which segments are most responsive, what objections keep coming up
What we're looking for

First, the honest version: We don't need someone who has done BDR before. We need someone who is smart, articulate, and can think from the buyer's perspective. The rest is learnable; those things aren't.

Specifically:

  • You communicate clearly and concisely, in writing, without sounding like a template
  • You think about why someone would want to respond before you write the message - empathy over volume
  • You're comfortable working with AI tools as a force multiplier, not a crutch. You direct the output; you don't publish it uncritically
  • You can hold a strategic thread across a prospect sequence - you know where you're taking someone and why
  • You're a self-starter who takes ownership of outcomes, not just activities
  • You're curious about the problem space - global compliance, international finance operations, the mess that controllers inherit when a company starts crossing borders

Nice to have (not required):

  • Prior BDR, SDR, or sales experience
  • Exposure to B2B SaaS, fintech, or professional services
  • Familiarity with tools like HubSpot, Clay, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or Apollo
What this role is not
  • A sequencing machine. We're not optimizing for volume metrics. We're optimizing for conversations that go somewhere.
  • A junior role in the traditional sense. We'll give you the tools, the ICP context, the messaging frameworks, and the AI infrastructure. What we can't give you is judgment - you need to bring that.
