Position Overview

The Business Development Officer (BDO) will be a key frontline growth leader responsible for driving revenue, expanding partnerships, and accelerating candidate and membership growth across assigned regions in India.

This role requires a commercially astute, execution-driven professional who can translate market opportunities into sustainable business outcomes through structured partnerships, institutional engagement, and strategic alliances.

Key Objectives

  • Expand IMA's footprint across corporates, universities, colleges, and training partners
  • Drive CMA and other IMA certification enrollments through channel-led growth
  • Strengthen regional partner ecosystems and institutional relationships
  • Support long-term revenue growth, brand equity, and market leadership for IMA in India

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Development & Growth
  • Identify, develop, and execute regional business development strategies aligned to national growth goals
  • Drive candidate acquisition, institutional partnerships, and revenue generation across assigned territories
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of corporate, academic, and training partners
  • Partner & Institutional Engagement
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with:
    • Universities, colleges, and higher-education institutions
    • Training providers and course partners
    • Corporates, CFO offices, and finance leadership communities
  • Negotiate and structure partnership models that ensure mutual value creation and scalability
  • Market Expansion & Opportunity Identification
  • Track regional market trends, competitor activity, regulatory developments, and skill-demand shifts
  • Identify opportunities in vocational education, certification, upskilling, and professional education
  • Provide actionable market intelligence and recommendations to leadership
  • Brand Representation & Industry Presence
  • Represent IMA and IMAIPL at industry forums, academic conclaves, conferences, and networking events
  • Act as a brand ambassador, articulating the value proposition of CMA, CSCA, FMAA, and IMA membership
  • Performance Reporting & Governance
  • Prepare periodic reports on:
    • Business development progress and pipeline status
    • Partner performance and regional growth metrics
    • Market insights, challenges, and strategic opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, partner governance, and delivery expectations
  • Member & Candidate Experience Support
  • Support initiatives that enhance candidate engagement, member satisfaction, and retention
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless onboarding, communication, and partner enablement
Skills, Experience & Competencies

Qualifications & Experience

  • Postgraduate degree (MBA preferred)
  • 810 years of experience in business development, preferably in:
    • Education, vocational training, or certification ecosystems
    • Professional bodies, skilling organizations, or academic partnerships
