Job Description

Position Overview:

Manager – Business Development will be responsible for driving strategic business expansion, market penetration, all promotional activity, loyalty program success, and institutional business growth across the company's operating markets.

The role will lead the organization's business development ecosystem, including state-level BD managers, district BD officers, and institutional engagement teams, with the objective of identifying new revenue opportunities, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders in the construction ecosystem, and accelerating market share growth.

The position requires a strong leader capable of combining market intelligence, field-driven opportunity development, and strategic partnerships to build a sustainable pipeline of high-value business opportunities.

The role will work closely with sales, marketing, specification teams, and technical support functions to ensure that identified opportunities are converted into long-term business relationships and revenue growth.

Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Market Expansion

Lead the identification and development of new market opportunities and growth clusters within the company's operating region.

  • Identifying high-growth districts, infrastructure corridors, and emerging construction markets.
  • Developing structured network expansion strategies in operating markets and gap towns.
  • Evaluating market potential for distribution network expansion and dealer development.
  • Assessing competitor market strategies and recommending counter strategies.
  • Supporting leadership in identifying strategic growth markets for focused investment and business development activities.

2. Project Pipeline Development

Build and maintain a structured project intelligence and opportunity pipeline across infrastructure, real estate, and institutional segments.

  • Tracking upcoming infrastructure projects, government initiatives, and private real estate developments.
  • Developing a centralized database of large construction projects and institutional opportunities in collaboration with Specification teams.
  • Ensuring early identification of projects to enable proactive engagement by sales and specification teams.
  • Monitoring project lifecycle stages to maximize conversion opportunities.

3. Institutional Business Development

Develop relationships with large institutional customers and construction ecosystem stakeholders.

  • Infrastructure developers
  • EPC contractors
  • Real estate developers
  • Government agencies
  • Industrial project owners

Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing long-term relationships with institutional customers.
  • Identifying opportunities for bulk supply and strategic partnerships.
  • Negotiating supply arrangements and commercial agreements.
  • Collaborating with technical teams to position specialized cement products in large projects.

4. Business Development Team Leadership

Lead and manage the company's multi-tier business development structure, including:

  • State BD Managers
  • District BD Officers
  • Field intelligence teams

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing structured BD operating frameworks and reporting systems.
  • Ensuring timely reporting of project opportunities and conversion progress.
  • Monitoring the performance and productivity of BD teams.
  • Conducting regular review meetings and capability development initiatives.

5. Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement

Develop strong relationships across the construction ecosystem to expand the company's influence and market reach.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building engagement with architects, consultants, contractors, and project management firms.
  • Participating in industry associations and infrastructure forums.
  • Identifying potential strategic alliances with construction ecosystem players.
  • Strengthening the company's reputation as a trusted partner for construction projects.

6. Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy

Develop a robust business intelligence framework to support strategic decisions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Tracking competitor business development initiatives.
  • Monitoring infrastructure investment trends and regional construction activity.
  • Identifying emerging industry trends affecting cement demand.
  • Providing strategic insights to leadership for market positioning.

Work Experience:

  • 10–12 years total experience Including:
  • Min 6-7 years in business development or institutional sales roles
  • Experience in multi-region ( Preferred South) market expansion and strategic partnerships
  • Experience managing large field teams and project pipelines
  • Strong market expansion experience
  • Deep construction ecosystem relationships
  • Proven ability to build large project pipelines
  • Experience managing multi-level field teams

Educational Qualification

  • Preferred B.E. (Civil Engineering) + MBA (Marketing). Other technical background with MBA can also apply.
