Primary title: Business Development Manager Tobacco Manufacturing
A role within the Tobacco Manufacturing industry serving the FMCG/regulated consumer-goods sector in India. The business focuses on manufacturing, channel distribution, and trade-marketing of tobacco products across domestic and export marketsrequiring strong channel relationships, regulatory awareness, and execution excellence.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development plans to grow revenue across assigned regions and channel segments (modern trade, wholesale, and traditional retail).
- Manage and expand distributor and key-account relationshipsdrive sales targets, inventory turns, promotional execution, and compliance adherence.
- Design and implement route-to-market and trade-marketing initiatives to improve market penetration and on-shelf availability.
- Lead commercial negotiations with distributors, wholesalers, and large retail chains to secure favourable terms and margin improvement.
- Monitor sales performance, prepare accurate forecasts and reports, and translate insights into actionable plans for territory growth.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with supply chain, legal (regulatory compliance), and marketing to ensure timely launches and adherence to statutory regulations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must-Have: Proven track record in business development or sales within the tobacco manufacturing or related FMCG category.
- Must-Have: Demonstrated experience managing distributors, key accounts, and trade-marketing programs.
- Must-Have: Strong commercial negotiation and channel-management skills with measurable revenue impact.
- Must-Have: Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for tobacco products and experience ensuring trade compliance.
- Must-Have: Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce or equivalent) and advanced MS Excel for sales analysis and forecasting.
- Must-Have: Willingness to work on-site across assigned territories in India and travel regularly for field coverage.
- Preferred: Exposure to export markets and international distribution of tobacco products.
- Preferred: Experience managing trade-promotion budgets and P&L accountability.
