Job Description

Job Title: Business Analyst - PO/DD (Remote 6 Months Contract)

Location: Remote (Work from Home India Only)

Duration: 6 Months

Eligibility: Open only to Indian nationals currently residing in India

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented GL Control & Reconciliation Analyst to join our team on a 6-month remote contract. In this role, you will be responsible for driving governance around general ledger accounts, clearing legacy outstanding items, managing memo account reviews, and ensuring robust GL ownership and control across the organization. This is a high-impact role requiring strong analytical skills, stakeholder management, and a process-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tracking, Reporting & Resolving Legacy Items

  • Document and track the number, value, and aging of legacy outstanding items for each unit, ensuring weekly progress toward clearing them.
  • Report progress weekly to all GL owners (Division Heads) for prioritization and timely resolution.

2. Memo Accounts Review

  • Review and assess the necessity of existing memo accounts.
  • Ensure division heads provide missing memos by specified deadlines, and reapprove or nullify exceptions as required.
  • Ensure all divisions and GRC Recon teams maintain copies of GL exception memos, particularly those provided for GL proofing.

3. GL Ownership and Visibility

  • Establish clear line of sight and visibility for GL accounts, especially those operated by different teams.
  • Ensure every GL owner designates a responsible person to perform GL-related activities, including exception management and monthly proofing.
  • Implement a process to block or close inactive GL accounts across branches, ensuring only necessary accounts remain open and active.

4. Settlement Date Field Compliance

  • Produce and share a weekly report showing whether the settlement date field is populated for transactions, ensuring compliance with the new process.
  • Enhance TLM reporting to include intelligent data on settlement dates for preparing monthly and weekly escalation reports.
  • Provide proper education and monitoring to ensure units use the settlement date field correctly and consistently.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 610 years of experience in GL control, reconciliation, financial reporting, or operations within banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger governance, exception management, and reconciliation processes.
  • Experience with TLM (Transaction Lifecycle Management) or similar reconciliation tools is a plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup and deliver results within defined timelines.
