Role Description: The Business Analyst for Workforce Management (WFM) in retail plays a key role in bridging business operations and technology, with a focus on optimizing labor strategies through Dayforce. This role is responsible for gathering and analysing requirements, designing functional solutions, and supporting the
Implementation and enhancement of Dayforce WFM modules.
General Responsibilities:
Requirements Gathering & Analysis
Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, Operations, and IT to elicit and document business requirements related to scheduling, time tracking, labor forecasting, and compliance.
Analyse current workforce management processes and identify opportunities for optimisation and automation using Dayforce.
Automate requirements discovery and documentation, leveraging AI tools to extract, cluster, and refine user stories, process maps, and impact assessments from workshops, tickets and transcripts
Functional Design & Documentation
Translate business needs into functional specifications and process flows for Dayforce WFM modules.
Support the configuration of Dayforce Scheduling, Time & Attendance, and Labor Forecasting features to meet retail-specific needs.
Document use cases, test scenarios, and user stories to support development and implementation.
Implementation & Support
Assist in system testing, UAT coordination, and go-live activities, ensuring solutions meet business expectations.
Provide post-implementation support, troubleshooting issues and recommending enhancements.
Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure clear communication and alignment.
Data & Compliance
Analyse workforce data to support decision-making and ensure compliance with labor laws and union agreements.
Monitor scheduling accuracy, labor utilization, and adherence to business rules.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and recommend improvements to Dayforce WFM configurations and workflows.
Stay informed on Dayforce updates and retail workforce trends to inform future enhancements.
Interface:
Act as the face of their product team with business stakeholders as needed.
The analyst works closely with HR, Store Operations, and IT teams to ensure Dayforce supports efficient scheduling, compliance, and workforce planning across retail locations.
Collaborates with the other team members in the product line and projects.
SKILLS & KEY LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR:
Business sense
Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Product Analyst in a SaaS or enterprise technology environment, translating complex business needs into structured functional requirements.
Understanding of integration points between Dayforce and POS, payroll, or HRIS Systems & Familiarity with Dayforce reporting and analytics tools.
Certifications in Dayforce or Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) are a plus.
Operational
Hands-on expertise in business communication tools/presentation skills.
Hands-on experience using AI tools for analysis and communication, such as prompt-based insight generation, automated documentation, or AI-enhanced data exploration.
Strong business documentation skills and structured approach towards problem solving
Strong analytical skills and influencing skills to drive conclusions with business
Education & Work Experience
35 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in retail or workforce
management.
Hands-on experience with Dayforce Workforce Management modules (Scheduling, Time & Attendance, Labor Forecasting).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Visio) and agile methodologies.
Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Information Systems, or related field.
