Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Business Analyst with experience in retail technologies and a solid foundation in cloud-based systems (AWS) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with APIs, understanding high-level technical solutions, and possess techno-functional capabilities. You should be able to manage complex business requirements, work with senior stakeholders, and deliver insights and solutions that drive business success. Familiarity with retail tech platforms such as POS systems, loyalty programs, and payment terminals is key.
You'll be a key player in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions while ensuring smooth communication between stakeholders and development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering:
- Work closely with business stakeholders to identify, define, and document requirements for retail technology products (POS systems, loyalty programs, payment terminals). Conduct gap analysis and impact assessments to ensure product features meet business needs.
- Techno-Functional Expertise:
- Understand both the technical and business sides of the product. Collaborate with technical teams to document requirements for API integration, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and other system components. Translate business needs into functional specifications that can be easily understood by development teams.
- API Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Conduct testing for APIs, ensuring the proper functionality and integration of external systems with the product. Perform API documentation review, regression testing, and ensure all integration points function as expected in a real-world environment.
- Retail Technology Expertise:
- Work with the team to understand the technical requirements for retail platforms, such as POS systems, loyalty systems, and payment terminals. Understand how these systems interact with other internal tools, ensuring seamless integration and supporting product improvements.
- Cloud/Infrastructure Understanding (AWS or similar):
- Bring a foundational understanding of cloud platforms (AWS) to help define requirements and assist in aligning business processes with technical capabilities. Familiarity with cloud services and concepts such as EC2, S3, and Lambda will be useful.
- Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:
- Engage with senior stakeholders to gather requirements, validate solutions, and communicate progress. Lead meetings, manage stakeholder expectations, and act as the point of contact between the business, development teams, and other key functions.
- Manage Ambiguity:
- Tackle ambiguous business problems, break them down into clear requirements, and communicate those effectively across technical and business teams. Act as a problem solver to guide teams through uncertainties and facilitate informed decision-making.
- Ads, Media, and Retail Media:
- While you may not be an expert in ads, media, and retail media initially, you will be expected to quickly learn the foundational concepts, their role in retail tech, and help integrate relevant media and advertising components into the broader product roadmap.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
- API & Technical Testing:
- Experience in working with APIs, understanding the API lifecycle, performing basic testing, and reviewing API documentation. Familiarity with tools like Postman or Swagger is a plus.
- Cloud Technology (AWS or similar):
- Basic understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS. Experience with core AWS services such as S3, EC2, and Lambda will be an asset.
- Retail Technology Platforms:
- Knowledge of retail systems such as POS, loyalty systems, and payment terminals. You should be able to understand how these systems integrate within the retail ecosystem.
- Business Analysis & Requirements Documentation:
- Strong experience in gathering and documenting business requirements, performing gap analysis, and writing detailed functional specifications. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, and Visio is helpful.
- Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Ability to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders, managing expectations and resolving conflicts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role.
- Problem Solving & Ambiguity Management:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage ambiguity and turn unclear requirements into actionable business solutions.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Retail or Payments Industry Experience:
- Experience or knowledge in the retail, e-commerce, or payments industry is a strong plus. Familiarity with key technologies and trends in retail would be beneficial.
- Experience with Ads and Retail Media Solutions:
- While not a requirement, experience or a willingness to learn about advertising technologies, media platforms, and retail media would be valuable.
- Project Management Skills:
- Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello) to manage requirements and track deliverables is desirable.
