Key Responsibilities

1) Tax Determination & Compliance

• Validate U.S. sales/use taxand global VAT/GSTcalculations in Vertex resolve exceptions and root causes.
• Maintain product/customer taxability rules, exemption certificates, and special tax treatments (services, digital goods, mixed bundles).
• Work with business to understand tax law changes (EU VAT B2B/B2C, marketplace facilitator, crossborder flows) and translate into system/process changes.

2) Vertex Configuration & Integration

• Configure Vertex O Series/Cloud: taxability rules, product categories, customer tax flags, jurisdictions/rates, and overrides.
• Govern environments (dev/test/prod), and releases document runbooks and rollback plans.
• Implement monitoring and alerting (calc failures, latency, exception queues) drive MTTR down with structured incident response.

3) Data, Testing & Enablement

• Align master data (materials/services tax categories, customer tax indicators) and ensure clean, consistent mappings.
• Author and execute unit/integration/UATtest cases for tax changes, upgrades, and regional rollouts.
• Build analytical reports/dashboards for tax accuracy, variance trends, exceptions, filing timeliness, and system health.
• Train Finance/Tax Ops and Support teams publish SOPs and design documents with traceability for audits.
• Tax Knowledge:

• U.S. Sales/Use Tax, VAT/GST fundamentals (B2B/B2C, place of supply, exemptions, reverse charge).
• EU VAT for crossborder ecommerce (distance selling, OSS/IOSS), marketplace facilitator rules.

• Technical Skills:

• Vertex O Series/Cloud configuration and administration.
• Familiarity with APIs/web services, JSON/XML payloads SQLfor data queriesand reconciliation.
• Strong Excel comfortable with data validation, pivots, and variance analysis.

Soft Skills:Analytical rigor, documentation excellence, cross-functional collaboration (Tax, IT, Finance, Ops), and clear communication.
