Role Summary

The Brand Director Softlines (India) will be responsible for building, scaling, and managing global fashion brands for the Indian market. This is an end-to-end ownership role covering brand strategy, buying, merchandising, distribution planning, and full P&L accountability across online marketplaces, D2C, and SIS formats.

The role involves evaluating new international brands for India entry, identifying market white spaces, and developing long-term growth plans aligned to Indian consumer trends. The Brand Manager leads buying and sourcing decisionsassortment planning, OTB management, vendor negotiations, pricing architecture, and lifecycle managementto ensure optimal cost, margin, and sell-through.

With complete ownership of brand-level P&L, the role drives revenue growth, margin expansion, inventory health, and profitability. The position works closely with internal teams (Marketing, Channel Sales, Finance, Supply Chain) and international brand partners to deliver successful brand launches and sustainable scale in India.

This is a high-impact, strategic role requiring strong knowledge of Indian fashion retail, sharp analytical skills, deep understanding of cost structures, and the ability to recommend effective pricing and channel strategies while maintaining brand integrity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end management of global softline brands for the Indian market with full P&L accountability.
  • Evaluate international brands for India entry and define market-entry and growth strategies.
  • Lead seasonal and in-season buying, including assortment planning, OTB management, and buy sizing.
  • Manage sourcing and vendor negotiations with focus on cost, margin, and lead times.
  • Define pricing architecture and margin targets across online marketplaces, D2C, and SIS channels.
  • Design and execute channel distribution strategies while protecting brand DNA.
  • Drive revenue growth, gross margins, inventory turns, and GMROI at the brand level.
  • Lead demand planning, replenishment, and inventory optimization (WOS, ageing, stock flow).
  • Partner with marketing, sales, finance, and global brand teams to deliver successful launches.
  • Identify and resolve performance risks across pricing, inventory, and profitability.

Skills & Experience:

  • 15-20 years of experience in brand, category, or merchandising roles within fashion/softlines retail, with strong knowledge of the Indian market.( Preferably Apparel Business)
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end buying, sourcing, assortment planning, and OTB management.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with ability to drive revenue growth, margins, and inventory efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience across omni-channel retail (marketplaces, D2C, SIS) and international brand partnerships.
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and execution skills with a brand-first, entrepreneurial mindset.
