We are building an AI-driven solution that automates the migration of Tableau dashboardsincluding LOD expressions, calculated fields, data models, and visual structuresto Looker. We are seeking an experienced BI Lead/SME with deep hands-on expertise in both Tableau and Looker to guide our engineering and GenAI teams. The ideal candidate will validate functional equivalence between platforms, define semantic modeling rules, and help establish reliable conversion patterns that the AI engine can automate.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance to product, engineering, and GenAI teams on Tableau and Looker capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
- Analyze and deconstruct Tableau workbooks, including data models, joins/relationships, parameters, filters, LODs, table calculations, actions, and visual logic.
- Map Tableau elements to Looker constructs such as Explores, Views, Dimensions, Measures, LookML joins, and modeling patterns.
- Define conversion rules for calculated fields, conditional logic, aggregation logic, date functions, table calcs, and LOD equivalents.
- Evaluate GenAI-generated LookML code, identify gaps or incorrect mappings, and recommend corrections.
- Validate functionality of migrated Looker dashboards against source Tableau dashboards to ensure semantic and visual fidelity.
- Support creation of automated test suites for logic validation, visualization accuracy, and performance benchmarking.
- Document complex edge cases such as nested LODs, multi-source joins, custom SQL, workbook-level filters, and context-dependent logic.
- Advise on how to restructure Tableau's workbook-centric models to align with Looker's semantic modeling principles.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to translate BI logic into promptable or trainable inputs for automated conversion.
- Participate in iterative design of accelerator features, workflows, templates, and migration automation steps.
