Job Summary/Main Purpose
The Manager Production Planning is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and optimizing production planning and scheduling processes in transformer manufacturing. This role involves demand forecasting, capacity planning, resource allocation, and ensuring a smooth production flow to meet customer requirements and business objectives. The incumbent will work closely with production, supply chain, and procurement teams to drive operational efficiency and minimize production bottlenecks.
Key Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop and implement production schedules to ensure timely delivery of transformers while optimizing resource utilization.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze production capabilities and align capacity with demand forecasts to prevent overloading or underutilization.
- Material Requirement Planning (MRP): Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Workflow Optimization: Streamline processes to eliminate bottlenecks and enhance production efficiency.
- Order Management & Coordination: Align production schedules with sales orders and customer delivery commitments.
- Lead Time & Turnaround Reduction: Identify and implement strategies to reduce lead times and improve production turnaround.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze production trends, and generate reports for management review.
- ERP & Production Systems Management: Ensure effective utilization of ERP systems for planning, tracking, and optimizing production activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, supply chain, and sales teams to ensure smooth execution of production plans.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies to enhance planning efficiency.
- Risk Management & Contingency Planning: Develop risk mitigation plans to handle unexpected demand fluctuations or supply chain disruptions.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in production planning within transformer manufacturing or heavy engineering industries.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems for production planning and scheduling.
- Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Supply Chain Management are an advantage.
- Proven track record in improving production planning efficiency and reducing lead times.
