The L3 Backup Admin will support and maintain Customer backup and disaster recovery environments, ensuring their reliability and efficiency. The role involves advanced troubleshooting, disaster recovery execution, automation, and continuous service improvement to ensure data protection, system performance and high availability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer enterprise backup solutions such as Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Azure, GCP and Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting for backup and restore failures across infrastructure and applications
  • Handle P1/P2 incidents, lead bridge calls, and provide timely resolution.
  • Implement backup strategies, policies, and retention plans.
  • Manage disaster recovery (DR) activities, including DR drills and testing.
  • Perform backup and restore operations for databases and applications.
  • Manage and optimize backup jobs, storage utilization, and environment health.
  • Coordinate with storage, network, database, and application teams confidently for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Work on change requests, patching, and upgrades of backup infrastructure.
  • Prepare and present MBR (Monthly Business Review) and WBR (Weekly Business Review) reports during customer calls.
  • Assist in the deployment, migration and management of Backup Tools.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and security policies.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, Run books and standard operating procedures.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends and apply this knowledge to improve our customers infrastructure.
  • Working confidently with the third-party vendor for elevated support for permanent fix.
  • Maintaining SLA requirements and flexible 24.7 operation support.
  • Planning and performing the overall Backup/Restoration strategy.
  • Focus on service improvements and drive automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Good to have Backup tool certificate or knowledge on ITIL process.
  • Take ownership of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and drive permanent fixes.
  • Drive capacity planning and performance tuning for backup infrastructure.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, MBA/MCA.
  • 8-15+ years of experience in Backup Administration
  • Proven experience in L2/L3 support roles.
  • Experience with cloud backup solutions (Azure, AWS, GCBDR)
  • Experience on Windows and Linux OS.
  • Good to have knowledge of automation/scripting (PowerShell, Shell)
