ZocialOne is an AI-powered Growth Marketing platform. One platform to create, post, schedule, reply, and analyze across 7 social media platforms — Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, and Google Business Profile.
This is a live production system used daily by 150,000+ businesses. Every API you write, every schema you design, and every bug you fix directly impacts real users, real data, and real revenue.
We are looking for a Backend Engineer who wants to build production systems that matter — real APIs, real databases, real users.
You join as the second backend engineer, working directly with the backend lead. Your code runs in production from week one. This is not a shadow role — you are here to build.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain REST APIs (Express.js) consumed by web, mobile (Flutter), and our AI agent (Zoe)
- Design and evolve PostgreSQL schemas with TypeORM — users, posts, analytics, subscriptions, billing
- Integrate 7 social media platform APIs — each with its own OAuth, rate limits, webhooks, and failure modes
- Build payment and subscription systems (Razorpay) — plan enforcement, credit tracking, invoice generation
- Implement background job processing (pg-boss) — scheduled posting, analytics aggregation, notification delivery, retry logic
- Build real-time features with WebSockets (Socket.IO) — live notifications, SSE bridges, chat events
- Handle media processing pipelines — image/video uploads to GCS/S3, FFmpeg transcoding, aspect ratio handling
- Implement authentication flows — Firebase Auth, JWT, Google Sign-In, phone OTP, WhatsApp login
- Build the API bridge between ZocialOne and Zoe AI — content generation endpoints, credit tracking, prompt management
- Monitor, debug, and hotfix production issues — Sentry error tracking, Winston logging, production incident response
What You'll Need
- Node.js with TypeScript — production-grade, not tutorial-level
- Express.js — routing, middleware, request validation (Zod / express-validator)
- PostgreSQL + TypeORM — JOINs, indexes, migrations, constraints, transactions
- REST API design — proper validation, pagination, filtering, error handling, versioning
- Async programming — Promises, async/await, event loop, race conditions
- Error handling — try/catch as muscle memory, graceful degradation, structured error responses
- Git — branch, commit, review, merge, resolve conflicts
Nice to have:
- Firebase Admin SDK
- Razorpay / payment gateway experience
- Cloud storage (GCS, S3)
- WebSockets / Socket.IO
- Job queues (pg-boss, Bull)
- FFmpeg / media processing
- Docker, CI/CD
- Sentry, monitoring tools
- Social media API experience
- Basic exposure to AI APIs (Gemini, OpenAI)
Who You Are
- Reliable — when you say it ships Thursday, it ships Thursday
- Detail-oriented — a wrong number in analytics or a duplicate charge is unacceptable to you
- Fundamentally strong — you understand how databases, HTTP, and async code actually work
- Independent — you take a task end-to-end without needing step-by-step hand-holding
- Production-minded — you think about what breaks at scale, not just what works in local
- Persistent — some days you're tracing a timezone bug in a cron job; you stay until it's fixed
Not a Fit If
- You can't write a SQL JOIN without Googling it
- You treat error handling as optional
- You've never deployed code that real users interact with
- You copy-paste from ChatGPT without understanding what the code does
Compensation
- Competitive Salary aligned with your experience and the market.
- Everything you build goes to production. Not a staging server, not a test project — production. 150,000+ businesses use the APIs you write for their everyday marketing. That's a portfolio most engineers don't build in 5 years.
- You learn at startup speed. In 6 months here, you will touch APIs, databases, payments, social media integrations, background jobs, media processing, AI backends, and production debugging. At a large company, you'd spend that time onboarding to one microservice.
- You work with a senior backend lead who has built this entire system. Direct mentorship. Real code reviews. Not a YouTube tutorial — a production codebase.
Why Join ZocialOne
- Your APIs serve 150,000+ businesses daily — real impact from day one
- You're engineer #2, not #47 — touch every part of the system in your first month
- Backend serves both human users and an AI agent (Zoe) — the future of software engineering
- Direct access to founders and product decisions — no management layers
- Production deployments weekly — your work reaches users in days, not months
Production systems are not built by people who give up when the logs don't make sense.
