Role Description
We are seeking a Backend Engineer skilled in NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript to design and build scalable backend services and APIs for our web and mobile platforms. The role involves leading backend architecture, developing real-time features with WebSocket (Socket.io), collaborating closely with front-end and mobile teams, and mentoring junior developers. The ideal candidate has strong experience with PostgreSQL, modern DevOps workflows, system optimization, and delivering high-performance, maintainable backend solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance back-end services and APIs using NestJS (Node.js) and TypeScript.
- Build robust, modular architectures supporting web (React.js, Next.js) and mobile (Android, iOS) clients.
- Develop real-time features using WebSocket (Socket.io) for cross-platform synchronization.
- Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless API integration and optimized user interfaces.
- Work with Android and iOS developers to provide API-level support and ensure consistent multi-platform experiences.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers, guiding backend architecture, API development, and integration.
- Lead architectural planning, enforce backend coding standards, and drive scalable system design.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure clean, maintainable, and modular codebases.
- Collaborate with DevOps and internal teams for efficient deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure management.
- Proactively diagnose and resolve system bottlenecks, bugs, and integration issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant practical experience or certifications will also be considered.
- Strong experience with NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript for backend development.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL (optional), and backend design principles.
- Experience with real-time technologies like WebSocket (Socket.io).
- Familiarity with front-end integration: React.js, Next.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Tailwind CSS.
- Proficient in working with relational and non-relational databases: PostgreSQL, and ORM tools (Prisma, TypeORM).
- Strong architectural and debugging skills.
- Comfortable with version control systems like Git and GitHub workflows.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills to lead cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with containerization (Docker), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and microservices architecture.
- Exposure to API performance tuning and mobile API optimization.
- Experience leading backend technical initiatives and contributing to long-term product strategy.
