Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure / Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Project Manager support and enhance enterprise-scale Azure and AVD environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AVD, Nerdio, Azure infrastructure, and migration projects, supporting large user bases in hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure in enterprise hybrid environments
- Implement and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including:
- Image creation and management using Azure Compute Gallery
- Host pool design, session hosts, application groups, and user assignments
- Autoscaling and optimization using Nerdio Manager
- Monitor performance, availability, and cost optimization of AVD workloads
- Lead and execute on-premises to Azure migrations, including:
- File server migrations using Azure File Sync, Robocopy, and related tools
- Identity and access integration with Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Plan and execute production cutovers, including nights and weekends when required
- Ensure minimal downtime and clear rollback strategies during migration activities
- Configure and manage Azure Networking, including:
- VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, and hybrid connectivity
- Integrate and support Entra ID (Azure AD) with on-prem Active Directory
- Work closely with security teams to align with enterprise security, compliance, and governance standards
- Implement and manage Azure Backup solutions for AVD and file workloads
- Support compute, storage, and backup operations in production environments
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and AVD-related issues
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Application Teams, DBAs, and Security Teams
- Participate in technical design discussions and solution planning
- Provide clear documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Microsoft Certifications:
- AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator
- AZ-140: Configuring and Operating Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop
- Proven experience supporting AVD environments with 500+ users
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Azure Virtual Desktop
- Azure Networking
- Entra ID (Azure AD) & Active Directory
- Azure Backup
- Azure Compute Gallery
- Experience with on-premises to Azure migrations
- Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills in enterprise environments
- Willingness to work nights and weekends during critical cutovers
Nice to Have:
- Nerdio Manager experience and/or Nerdio certifications
- Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and/or Ansible
- Deep hands-on experience with Azure File Sync
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting regulated or large enterprise environments
