Project Description:
HOLT IT has completed its migration from Credit Suisse infrastructure into the environment. As we move into a Business As Usual operating model, we are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer who can strengthen our day-to-day engineering, automation, and release processes across the HOLT platform.
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with good knowledge in Azure SQL Cloud Database DevOps to help develop and manage our database infrastructure. You should be able to bridge DevOps, CI/CD, release engineering, and Azure SQL platform support.
Responsibilities:
1. CI/CD Engineering (Core Focus)
- Build, maintain, and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines used across the HOLT application suite.
- Support secure build chain requirements and automated testing workflows.
- Own scripting for build, packaging, deployment, environment configuration, and release promotion.
2. Release Management & Automation
- Support regular release cycles for the HOLT stack across multiple pods.
- Improve automation around deployments, including validation, artifact flow, and repeatability.
- Troubleshoot build and release issues across dev, QA, and production aligned environments.
3. Azure SQL Engineering Support (Non DBA)
- Assist with Azure SQL connectivity, configuration, permissions, access flows, and integration with pipelines.
- Work with engineers to troubleshoot Azure SQL issues (queries, access, service configuration).
- Help fill gaps created by the departure of our Azure SQL engineer — no database administration required, but strong comfort working with cloud SQL platforms is essential.
4. Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Support Azure-hosted infrastructure components such as:
o Azure Storage Accounts
o Azure Batch
o Managed Identities
o APIM integrations
- Assist teams with cloud environment reliability, troubleshooting, and incremental enhancements.
Mandatory Skills Description:
- Overall 8+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer with Azure
- GitLab CI/CD (must have)
- Azure Cloud Services (pipelines, storage, identities, batch, networking fundamentals)
- Azure SQL (engineering familiarity, access/roles, connection troubleshooting)
- Azure Databricks, such as running jobs, managing pipelines, and checking job logs to debug production issues
- AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), including the use of Helm charts.
- Scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell — any strong automation language acceptable)
- Linux (comfortable working on Linux-based pipelines and runtime environments)
- ETL Tools (Good understanding of various ETL tools)
- Terraform (IaC) experience for provisioning and managing Azure infrastructure using central modules
Nice-to-Have Skills Description:
- Airflow or similar workflow orchestrators
- Azure SQL
- Experience in configuration management tools like Ansible
- Data engineering awareness in cloud ecosystems
- Experience in regulated/financial environments
- The candidate should also have at least one Azure certification, such as AZ-900 or similar Azure certifications
