AWS Cloud Architect Snowflake (Mandatory)
TEGNA is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking AWS Cloud Architect with strong Snowflake expertise to design, build, and drive scalable, secure, and data-centric cloud solutions. This role is critical in enabling business transformation through modern cloud and data architectures while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and best practices.
As a key member of the technology leadership team, the AWS Cloud Architect will define cloud and data architecture strategies, lead solution design across AWS and Snowflake platforms, and guide cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, enterprise-grade solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end AWS cloud solution architecture with a strong focus on Snowflake-based data platforms.
- Design, implement, and optimize cloud-native architectures on AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
- Architect and govern Snowflake data solutions, including data warehousing, data sharing, performance optimization, and cost management.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, developers, and product teams to translate business needs into robust AWS and Snowflake architectures.
- Create architecture blueprints, cloud design documents, data flow diagrams, and integration patterns.
- Define and enforce AWS cloud best practices, security standards, and governance models.
- Drive POCs and technical evaluations for AWS services and Snowflake capabilities.
- Ensure seamless integration between Snowflake and AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Kinesis, and IAM.
- Guide and mentor engineering teams on AWS cloud architecture, Snowflake optimization, and data engineering best practices.
- Identify architectural risks, manage technical debt, and ensure long-term platform sustainability.
- Stay current with AWS innovations and Snowflake feature releases to continuously enhance the cloud and data ecosystem.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, solution architecture, or large-scale system design.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (mandatory), designing and deploying enterprise-grade cloud solutions.
- Deep understanding of AWS core services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, Glue, CloudWatch, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience integrating Snowflake with AWS data pipelines and analytics services.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines in AWS environments.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, SQL, Java, or similar).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and governance in AWS cloud environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional.
- Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core / Advanced Architect preferred).
- Experience with hybrid or multi-account AWS architectures.
- Familiarity with data analytics, BI tools, or AI/ML integration on AWS.
- Exposure to enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF or similar).
