Courses

Depending on the eligibility criteria there are various courses designed for students.

Students with PCM background : Pilot(license), Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, BSc Aeronautical, BSc in AME, BSc in Aviation.

Students with Non-PCM background: BBA in Aviation, BBA in Airport Management, BBA in Aviation and Tourism, Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering, Diploma in Aerospace Engineering, Certificate course in Cabin Crew and Certificate course in Airport Ground Staff.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the undergraduate courses in Aviation Management, a candidate must have completed her 12th standard with at least 50% marks from a recognized board or institute, approved by the government of India. Most of the colleges are private based therefore the eligibility criteria varies from college to college. One should carefully look for the eligibility at the college's website. There are few government renowned institutes that conduct entrance exams for selection of candidates such as AFCAT, IGRAU, AME CET.

Few of the courses also ask for PCM i.e. Physics Chemistry and Mathematics in their 12th standard. So aspiring students should take this into consideration.

Subjects One Studies During The Course

Airport Functions of Airlines, Human Resource management, Aviation Marketing, Cargo Handling, Financial Accounting, Community Servicing, Organizational Behavior, Business Statistics, Business Law, Customer Relationship Management, Environmental Sciences etc. are some subjects that are covered in a general course on aviation.

What are the Skills Required to enter the aviation industry

Communication: One of the most important skills that the Aviation industry asks for is having good Communication skills. People with good verbal as well as written communication skills have a high rate to sustain well in this career. The Air Hostess, Flight Stewards, Air Ticketing staff and Ground Staff have to be polite and maintain a good communication relationship with the on board travelers.

Linguistic Knowledge: To be able to speak and understand more than 3 languages is always a perk in the airline industry. You will be working in a field where an uncountable number of passengers will be travelling, coming from different states, countries and ethnicities. Having a knowledge of multiple languages is always a plus point and your chances of getting recruited increases.

Personal Grooming: Another most important skill is personal grooming. Looking presentable is the next most important aspect in the Aviation Industry, especially the staff that deals with the travelers everyday. Generally, the staff of any airline or authority is the one that represents the whole brand and hence their personal behavioural as well as presentation skills matters a lot. Personal grooming does not only include makeup and hairstyle but also the right representation of your personality.

Patience: The whole aviation industry that deals with hospitality becomes a place where you are the host and are supposed to serve the guests. This involves a lot of patience while working. You are expected to listen to the guests requests and demands quietly and serve them with the most relevant options. You may also face many challenges such as the flight might face a functional failure or other unfortunate incidents like Hijacking, which will require a lot of patience to handle the situation courageously.

Leadership Quality: Aviation industry works on a position basis criteria. Although you might start with a basic position where you will be working under someone but with time and experience you will lead. Managing a team requires a lot of mutual understanding and decision making skills.
