Job Description: Design Engineer (AV Systems)
Key Responsibilities
• System Design: Develop comprehensive AV system designs, including signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, floor plans, and ceiling reflected plans.
• Technical Documentation: Create detailed schematics and architectural drawings using AutoCAD to ensure precise installation.
• Database Management: Utilize D-Tools for system architecture, detailed proposals, and managing labor/equipment specifications.
• Markups & Coordination: Use Bluebeam Revu for drawing markups, submittal reviews, and collaborative design revisions.
• Project Lifecycle: Collaborate with Sales and Project Management to ensure designs meet client requirements, budget constraints, and industry standards (AVIXA).
• Site Surveys: Occasionally participate in site walkthroughs to verify field conditions and coordinate with other trades (Electrical, GC, IT).
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Industry Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Design Engineer specifically within the Audio-Video (AV) industry.
• Software Mastery:
o AutoCAD: Expert-level proficiency in 2D drafting and layout.
o D-Tools (SI): Proven experience in system integration software for documentation and project tracking.
o Bluebeam Revu: Proficiency in PDF editing, measuring, and collaborative markups.
• AV Knowledge: Strong understanding of signal flow (Audio, Video, Control, Networking) and familiarity with brands like Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, and Biamp.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to produce installation-ready drawings that require minimal field correction.
