Your responsibilities
You will be part of our global Automation organization and play a key role in the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of automation standards for electrolysis projects, including green hydrogen (AWE), chlor-alkali and HCl electrolysis technologies.
Your work will form the technical foundation for global customer projects and support efficient, high-quality engineering and order processing across all locations.
Your Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and enhance standardized automation solutions, including:
- Reusable software modules, function blocks and libraries
- System templates and reference architectures
- Control philosophies and functional specifications
- Drive modularization, reusability and productization of automation assets to reduce project-specific engineering effort.
- Perform hands-on programming and software development on industrial automation platforms, with a strong focus on:
- Code quality and maintainability
- Standardized interfaces and structures
- Lifecycle and version management
- Define and continuously improve engineering standards, including:
- Naming conventions
- I/O structures
- Documentation templates
- Programming guidelines and best practices
- Support efficiency, quality and consistency across projects by:
- Improving engineering workflows and methods.
- Reducing variability between projects.
- Ensuring long-term sustainability of automation solutions
- Collaborate closely with:
- Automation innovation and technology team
- Automation execution team
- IT/OT and cybersecurity specialists
- Other engineering disciplines like process, instrumentation and electrical engineering.
- Commissioning teams
- Evaluate industrial suitability and scalability of new automation technologies, tools, and concepts.
- Support knowledge transfer by contributing to internal training material and technical documentation related to automation standar
Your profile
- Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or comparable technical discipline.
- Several years of professional experience in industrial automation engineering, preferably in process or plant engineering environments.
- Strong programming experience with industrial automation systems and hardware, including SAS and PLC platforms from leading manufacturers.
- Solid understanding of:
- Automation system architectures
- Control concepts and industrial software design
- Modular and reusable software development
- Experience in developing or maintaining standard libraries, templates or reusable automation solutions is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of industrial communication systems (e.g. Profinet, Modbus TCP).
- Basic understanding of functional safety and IT/OT security concepts.
- Structured, analytica, and quality-driven working style with a strong focus on long-term technical sustainability.
- Ability to think beyond individual projects and design solutions for global and repeated use.
- Very good English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Motivation to actively shape the future of automation engineering in a global organization
