Job Title: Engineer (Automation)

SUMMARY
Automation Engineer shall provide technical Support, develop, test and implement software tools or programs to execution and implementation of automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Automation System Design & Integration
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for capital goods production lines.
- Integrate PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, robots, CNC systems, sensors, drives, and actuators.
- Select appropriate automation hardware and software based on project requirements.
- Develop electrical and control schematics using industry standards.
2. Manufacturing Process Optimization
- analysed existing production processes and identify automation opportunities.
- Optimize workflow, cycle time, take time, and equipment utilization.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM principles to improve efficiency.
- Conduct time-and-motion and root-cause analysis.
3. Equipment Installation, Commissioning & Validation
- Lead installation, calibration, and commissioning of automated machinery and production lines.
- Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
- Ensure systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support for automated systems and capital equipment.
- Diagnose issues with PLC programs, robots, sensors, drives, hydraulics/pneumatics, and electrical panels.
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Train maintenance teams on troubleshooting and system operation.
5. Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage automation and machinery upgrade projects from concept to completion.
- Prepare project budgets, timelines, documentation, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with production, quality, design, suppliers, and external automation vendors.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (ISO, OSHA, CE, IEC).
6. Digital Manufacturing & Industry 4.0
- Implement Industry 4.0 tools such as IoT sensors, smart machines, cloud monitoring, and data analytics.
- Work with MES, ERP, and digital twin technologies to improve plant performance.
- Monitor KPIs (OEE, downtime, scrap rate) and drive continuous improvement.
7. Quality & Compliance
- Develop quality control plans for automated equipment and processes.
- Ensure adherence to manufacturing standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Work with QA teams on process validation and SPC analysis.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider, etc.).
- SCADA/HMI development.
- Robotics (ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa).
- Electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, servo/variable-frequency drives.
- CAD/CAE tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN).
- Understanding of MES/ERP systems.

Educational Requirements
