SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

Take project requirements from a cross functional team to create electrical designs, schematics, and release packages for control systems that fulfill customer and internal specifications.

Meet project Quality Plan requirements and project schedules for controls.

Provide direction/guidance to Electrical, Assembly, and Service personnel as required.

Deepen the understanding of products, customers, goals, organization, and business strategies, evaluating systems and processes, and identifying improvement needs.

Implement processes that improve the design phase and the build phase to continue delivering quality outputs.

Meet client's quality standards while maintaining working knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Incorporate standard control designs and ancillary subsystems to efficiently design and manufacture in a manner that meets project requirements and facilitates safe, productive startup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Design equipment control systems using established design standards.
• Effectively perform Electrical Design functions, maintaining project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Requisition components for projects maintaining compliance with approved vendor lists.
• Execute electrical designs utilizing current design software (AutoCAD Electrical).
• Contribute as a member of a team of design professionals to achieve project, department, and company goals.
• Assist with the development of new concepts and enhancements of standard designs.
• Effectively support the client Applications Engineering Department including comparing customer specifications against company's own standards.
• Commissioning support of new equipment.
• Commissioning support for modifications to equipment.
• Provide direction to manufacturing and service as required for execution of designs.
• Attend and participate in departmental and process improvement meetings to improve efficiencies.
• Build professional skill through continued training, education, and networking events.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

oBS in Electrical Engineering or

oAS in Electrical Technology, Electromechanical Technology, or Engineering Science, or

oHigh school diploma with 5+ years experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, Automation Technician, or Service Technician

Experience:

o3+years of experience in a design-build manufacturing environment as an Electrical Design Engineer

Skills:

oAutoCAD Electrical experience required. Highly proficient with AutoCAD, ePlan or equivalent platform required.

oExperience applying PLC-based design methodologies.

oExposure to Allen Bradley PLC's, HMI's, and Servo control

oExperience selecting and designing safety schema to mitigate hazards for industrial machinery with safety relays or safety PLCs according to appropriate industrial safety standards

oProject management experience preferred.

oMicrosoft technology and relevant design and life cycle management software.

oAllen-Bradley Studio/ RSLogix5000, FactoryTalk View Studio experience strongly preferred.

oRelevant codes such as NFPA 79, NFPA 70, and CE a plus.
