Dimensions
The Assistant Manager - Financial Control is a member of the NAM Financial Controlling team. The role collaborates closely with key Market Stakeholders in the US/Canada, Budapest Supply FP&A team and other Internal Stakeholders (including the in-market Finance team, the Group Reporting team, other DSS Financial Control teams, and cross-functional teams across various Towers).
Market Complexity
This role will work with a large and complex Diageo NAM market including multiple business divisions.
Purpose Of Role
This role supports the Financial Controller by partnering with the market to gain a thorough understanding of business operations and key issues, while collaborating with the Finance Experience team to ensure that legal entity financial statements accurately and comprehensively reflect business activities. The role also ensures that non-routine transactions and events are appropriately gathered, in compliance with Diageo reporting policies and applicable accounting standards.
Key accountability
Demonstrate leadership in problem-solving by taking ownership of issues and ensuring their effective resolution across all activities outlined below.
.Site Balance Sheet - End-to-end preparation and presentation to individual plant leadership teams. Coordination with respective Plant Finance Managers and Manufacturing Directors to drive corrective actions
.IFRS-16 (Lease Accounting) - End-to-end ownership from a Financial Control perspective, including responsibility for the B84 report. Review and understand the agreement, and align with relevant partners prior to setting it up in the Tagetik tool
.ESG Reporting - Perform audits of reported figures through targeted sample-based checks. Collaborate with the market E&S Manager and ESG FP&A team through regular review meetings. Ensure timely and accurate reporting in the MSM tool
.USVI Entity Dividend - Handle the end-to-end review and payment process, including use of the dividend tool and coordination with Group Reporting as required, while retaining ownership of the associated control framework for USVI
.BFC and FSR Review - Complete review of the financial Statement of the legal entity USVI.
.Property Tax and Ad-Valorem Tax - Take end-to-end ownership of accruals, including close coordination with the market to align on accrual balances, pending invoices, and the clearance of aged items. Review Canada Supply Property Tax in collaboration with the reconciler prior to reporting in Balance Sheet Reviews
.Monthly Statistical Survey - Complete (i) Monthly Statistical Survey (Mfg. Industries) (ii) Annual Statistical Survey (Mfg. Industries) (iii) Annual Capital Expenditure Survey (US)

.Co-ordinating with Inventory, Asset and Capex Team - (i) Lead the fortnightly calls (ii) Maintain action tracker and call out and follow-up closing pending actions. (iii) Monitor the progress on the Controls (Physical Verifications).

The role will ensure that global systems and processes are embedded in FC operations and will both lead and support continuous operational improvement.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
.Chartered Accountant or MBA with 8-10 years post qualification experience
.8-10 years of experience in a multinational corporate environment with exposure to financial accounting, reporting, controlling
.Ideally, experience working in an in-market company.
Language Skills
Business English proficiency is a must with excellent written and verbal communication skills

.Strong business partnering and stakeholder management capabilities
.Ability to simplify and communicate complex accounting concepts to non-finance audiences, while identifying the accounting implications of business decisions
.Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
.Deep knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

.Highly organized, with the ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks

Tech Skills
.Relevant experience with SAP FI /CO modules
.Relevant experience in financial consolidation and/or management reporting system - data-flow / reporting background
