Job Description

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major; 4 years of experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • OR
  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major; 2 years of experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • Preferred:
  • 4-year college degree.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervising a team.
  • Lodging sales experience.
  • Hotel industry work experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES:

Managing Sales Activities:
  • Executes the sales strategy and ensures that individual booking goals are met for both on-property staff and off-property sales channels.
  • Partners with Area Sales and Group Sales within the Sales Office to establish successful account deployment and execution.
  • Serves as the sales contact for the General Manager, property leadership team, Global Sales Office (GSO), Group Sales, Area Sales, and Catering Sales leaders.
  • Acts as the sales contact for customers and advocates on their behalf.
  • Collaborates with Area Sales, Group Sales, Catering Sales, Revenue Management, Event Management, Regional Marketing Communications, GSO, and other departments to align on sales goals.
  • Provides customer intelligence to evaluate market and economic trends, adjusting the sales strategy to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Analyzes the Smith Travel Research STAR report and competitive shopping reports to maintain awareness of the hotel's market position.
  • Researches competitor sales strategies to identify opportunities to grow occupancy, RevPAR, and market share.
  • Attends sales strategy meetings, contributing to weekly and overall sales strategies.
  • Participates in business planning with the Regional Marketing & eCommerce team.
  • Suggests and develops innovative marketing ideas and deployment strategies to grow market share.
  • Coordinates marketing communication activities and participates in sales calls with the sales team to acquire or close business.
  • Identifies public relations opportunities and works with the Regional Marketing & eCommerce team to execute strategies that support the overall marketing plan.
  • Coordinates crisis communications and supports the General Manager.
  • Executes Marriott's Customer Service Standards and hotel Brand Standards.
  • Supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., proposal generation, writing contracts, customer correspondence).
  • Ensures seamless turnover from sales to operations, delivering high-level service.
  • Drives revenue growth, controls expenses, and provides ROI for the owner and Marriott International.
  • Works with the Regional Marketing & eCommerce team to review collateral and execute the marketing plan.
Building Successful Relationships:
  • Develops strong partnerships with local organizations to increase brand/product awareness.
  • Cultivates and manages internal key stakeholder relationships.
  • Strengthens community and public relations by obtaining property participation in local, regional, and national tradeshows and client events.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty, assisting the customer and monitoring satisfaction during events or programs.
  • Understands customer needs, recommending features and services that exceed expectations and fostering loyalty to Marriott.
