Job Description: Associate Professor Senior Interior Architect/Designer

The Jindal School of Design & Architecture (JSDA) at the O.P. Jindal Global University, invites applications for faculty at the rank of Associate Professor (full time) for its Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) programme. Prospective candidates must demonstrate specialization in interior design practice.

We seek applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies in architecture/interior design from a nationally/internationally recognized institution and have a strong background and professional experience in interior design and practice across a range of project types and scales falling within the domain of industry architecture & design.

Given the inter-disciplinary nature of pedagogical practices at the JSDA, the candidates will be expected to teach students from across various design majors, and thus, develop coursework in a manner that highlights both the collaborative and inter-disciplinary nature of any design practice. Further, candidates will be expected actively pursue research, critical practices and undertake administrative and leadership roles for institution building.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Research:

Teach interior & architectural design studio as well as seminar courses and contribute to curriculum development in line with the industry and academic best practices.

Supervise undergraduate level research works of students, including but not limited to final year thesis projects.

Engage in research, publications, and grant applications in interiors, design, and/or related fields.

Organize workshops, lectures, and events to enhance student learning.

Actively engage with student progression, advising, and academic counselling.

Administration & Institution Building:

Contribute towards academic excellence, strategic planning, program reviews, and faculty development initiatives.

Foster industry collaborations, research partnerships, and community engagement.

Foster collaborations with international institutional partners in order to expand and bolster international collaborations and opportunities for students

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Qualifications:

First Class Bachelors Degree in Architecture/Interior Design or related fields recognized by national/international regulatory body the Council of Architecture and

Minimum 10+ years of work experience in teaching/research/profession related to interior/architecture/building design.

Desired Qualifications:

Master's degree in Interior/ Architecture/ Design and/or PhD in Interior/ Architecture/ Design, and/or related field.

Active architect's registration with Council of Architecture.

Demonstrable research/teaching focus in history/theory/criticism related to design, as shown through either publications or projects or academic portfolio which directly address the interior/architecture disciplines.

Experience of working on interior design projects involving all stages of the design process such as schematic and technical drawing preparation, design coordination, site execution, and/or related tasks.

A flexible, integrative, collaborative, and inter-disciplinary approach to design practice and education.

Strong leadership, team management, and strategic planning abilities.

Excellent communication, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
