Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Projects Engineer in the Thermal Projects division, your responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, with an emphasis on delivering mechanical engineering excellence and ensuring alignment with Adani's core values of safety, sustainability, and quality:

  • Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed mechanical engineering schedules, resource plans, and procurement timelines for thermal power projects.
    • Support risk assessment and mitigation plans specific to mechanical aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with statutory and Adani's safety standards.
  • Engineering Design and Review:
    • Analyze and review mechanical design drawings, technical specifications, and equipment datasheets for boilers, turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, and auxiliary systems to ensure feasibility and compliance with project requirements.
    • Coordinate with design consultants and vendors to resolve technical issues, ensuring design optimization and cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management:
    • Assist procurement teams in technical evaluation of mechanical equipment and materials, ensuring adherence to project technical specifications and Adani's quality standards.
    • Engage with vendors and suppliers for timely delivery, technical clarifications, and quality inspections of mechanical components.
  • Construction and Installation Supervision:
    • Oversee mechanical equipment installation, alignment, welding, and piping activities at site, ensuring conformity to design documents and project specifications.
    • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols during installation and commissioning phases to uphold Adani's commitment to zero harm.
    • Conduct regular inspections and progress reviews, providing technical support to resolve on-site mechanical issues and coordinating with contractors to maintain project timelines.
  • Testing, Commissioning, and Handover:
    • Lead mechanical systems testing and commissioning activities, including performance validation and troubleshooting of boilers, turbines, pumps, and auxiliaries.
    • Prepare detailed commissioning reports and document compliance with technical and safety standards.
    • Support knowledge transfer and training to operations teams to ensure smooth plant handover and operational readiness.
  • Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
    • Implement quality control procedures during all phases of mechanical works, ensuring adherence to ISO and Adani's internal standards.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing lessons learned and recommending design or process enhancements for future projects.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:
    • Maintain transparent and timely communication with internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory authorities regarding project status, mechanical engineering challenges, and resolutions.
    • Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and risk assessments to senior management.
  • Environmental and Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure all mechanical project activities comply with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices in line with Adani's vision for responsible growth.
    • Champion the safety culture on site by conducting toolbox talks, safety audits, and incident investigations related to mechanical works.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university or institute. A Master's degree or specialized postgraduate diploma in Thermal Engineering or Project Management is an advantage.
