Role Summary
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Environmental Compliance & Sustainability is responsible for executing and supporting product environmental compliance and sustainability regulatory requirements. The role involves handson BOM analysis, supplier data validation, compliance reporting, and support for emerging EU regulations such as LCA, CBAM, and EUDR, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to customer and regulatory standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
. Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) and material data to ensure regulatory compliance
. Create, review, and submit MDS entries in IMDS and customer-mandated systems
. Validate supplier declarations and compliance documentation for accuracy and completeness
. Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams (engineering, procurement, quality) to close data gaps
. Support LCA activities through structured data collection and validation
. Assist in CBAM reporting by coordinating emissions data and supplier inputs
. Support EUDR due diligence activities including data validation and traceability documentation
. Maintain audit-ready documentation and support customer/regulatory inquiries
. Monitor regulatory updates and flag potential compliance risks
. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance data quality and efficiency
Educational qualification:
. Bachelor's degree inEngineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Sustainability, or related field
. Experience inautomotive, electronics, manufacturing, or sustainability consultingenvironments preferred
Experience :
3-4 yearsof relevant experience in environmental compliance and sustainability regulations
Key Skills & Knowledge
. Strong working knowledge of REACH, RoHS, ELV, PFAS, Conflict Minerals, and other applicable EU/global regulations
. Handson experience with compliance tools such as IMDS, CDX, FMD, and similar customer platforms
. Good understanding of EndofLife Vehicle (ELV) Directive and IMDS recommendations
. Experience in BOM analysis and creation/review of Material Data Sheets (MDS)
. Foundational to intermediate knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) concepts
. Exposure to carbon footprint data collection at product or material level
. Working awareness of EU CBAM reporting requirements and emissions data coordination
. Understanding of EUDR requirements related to supply chain traceability and due diligence
. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI) advanced Excel/Macros is a plus
. Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
