Description:
We are seeking a Cloud Migration Lead who will act as the technical execution owner for cloud migration programs. This role bridges cloud architecture and hands-on delivery, owning end-to-end migration execution while leading migration engineers and working closely with application, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver successful AWS migrations.
Responsibilities:
- Own and drive day-to-day migration execution across multiple workloads and applications.
- Lead and mentor a team of migration engineers within a migration factory model.
- Perform application discovery, dependency mapping, and migration factory setup.
- Define and apply appropriate 6R migration strategies based on application and business requirements.
- Execute migrations using AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), AWS DMS, AWS Migration Hub, and relevant third-party tools.
- Coordinate with application owners, infrastructure teams, and security/compliance teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Drive test migrations, functional and performance validation, and cutover planning and execution.
- Define and execute rollback procedures and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
- Build runbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support knowledge transfer and handover to CloudOps and SRE teams.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and right-sizing post-migration.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure or cloud engineering roles.
- 4-5 years of hands-on experience with AWS.
- Proven, hands-on experience executing end-to-end migrations from on-premises (VMware or Hyper-V) to AWS.
- Strong expertise in Linux, Windows, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation is strongly preferred.
- Must have personally executed migrations end-to-end, including discovery, tooling, testing, and cutover.
- This role requires real hands-on delivery experience, not just planning or advisory responsibilities.
