Assistant Supervisor - IPD Billing

Key Responsibilities:

1. Billing Oversight & Accuracy

• Monitor and verify IPD billing entries for services including investigations, surgeries, consumables, room charges, pharmacy, and consultant visits.
• Ensure real-time and accurate billing of all patient services.
• Review daily admission, transfer, and discharge summaries for billing completeness.

2. Team Supervision

• Assist in supervising IPD billing executives and data entry operators.
• Guide the team in handling daily billing tasks, queries, and escalations.
• Help in scheduling shifts and ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours.

3. Coordination with Departments

• Coordinate with nursing stations, pharmacy, diagnostics, and wards for service confirmations and pending charges.
• Communicate with the TPA (Third Party Administrator)/insurance desk for pre-authorizations, final bill approvals, and discharge documentation.

4. Patient Support & Query Resolution

• Interact with patients and attendants regarding billing queries, cost estimates, and discharge bills.
• Resolve discrepancies or disputes related to billing items in a patient-friendly and accurate manner.

5. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, billing SOPs, insurance/tariff guidelines, and NABH/JCI requirements.
• Support audit activities by maintaining and providing required documentation.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of patient billing records.

6. Reporting

• Generate daily reports of admitted, discharged, and billed patients.
• Assist in revenue reconciliation and error tracking reports for management review.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:
• Graduate in Commerce, Hospital Administration, or related field (MBA/Hospital Mgmt preferred)
• Experience:
• 24 years of experience in hospital IPD billing
• At least 1 year in a team lead or supervisory role preferred
• Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS) and billing software
