Assistant Professor - Statistics , Amity University Kolkata

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an Assistant Professor – Statistics at Amity University Kolkata, located in the Kolkata metropolitan area. The role involves designing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in statistics, including lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and mentoring of students. The Assistant Professor will develop syllabi, prepare assessment materials, evaluate student performance, and provide academic advising and guidance to support learner success. Responsibilities also include conducting independent and collaborative research, publishing in reputable journals, and seeking external funding where appropriate. The role requires active participation in departmental and university activities, curriculum development, accreditation processes, and engagement with industry and academic partners to keep the curriculum relevant and current.

Qualifications

• PhD (or submitted) in Statistics.
• Strong subject-matter expertise in Statistics, with the ability to teach core and advanced topics and guide projects and dissertations.
• Demonstrated research aptitude, including experience in developing research proposals, conducting empirical or theoretical studies, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Effective teaching, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse learners and use inclusive, student-centered pedagogies.
• Proficiency with statistical software/tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, SAS, or similar) and comfort with technology-enhanced teaching and learning platforms.
• Evidence of professional integrity, collegiality, and the ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience in curriculum design, outcome-based education, and participation in academic quality assurance or accreditation processes is an advantage.
• Interest in industry collaboration, consultancy, or applied projects in statistics or data analytics will be considered beneficial.
