Role Description The Assistant Professor of Statistics at Amity University Kolkata will be responsible for delivering high-quality lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in statistics and related quantitative subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The role includes designing and updating course curricula, preparing academic materials, and assessing student performance through examinations, assignments, and projects. The faculty member will be expected to engage in scholarly research, publish in reputable journals, and contribute to departmental research initiatives and collaborations. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and advising students, participating in academic committees, supporting accreditation and quality assurance processes, and contributing to outreach or departmental events. This is a full-time, on-site position based at the Amity University campus in the Kolkata metropolitan area.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Statistics.
- Thesis Submitted can also Apply.
- Strong foundation in Statistics, with expertise in areas such as probability theory, inferential statistics, regression analysis, multivariate analysis, or related domains.
- Proficiency in statistical software and tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, SAS, or similar) and familiarity with data analysis, data visualization, and quantitative research methods.
- Demonstrated ability in teaching, curriculum development, and student assessment at the university level, with effective classroom and online teaching practices.
- Research-oriented mindset with a record of, or strong potential for, publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference participation, and collaborative academic projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex quantitative concepts clearly to diverse learners.
- Commitment to student mentoring, academic advising, and supporting an inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary academic team, contribute to departmental initiatives, and participate in institutional development activities.
- Prior teaching experience in higher education is highly desirable; industry or applied research experience in analytics, data science, or similar fields is an added advantage.
