About the Position:

The Faculty of Planning focused on planning in the public realm was established in 1972. CEPT University and more particularly Faculty of Planning are engaged in educating professionals equipped for urban transformation. CEPT University invites applications for the positions of Assistant Professor, Faculty of Planning, CEPT University.

The positions are intended for individuals committed to pursuing an academic career, who possess teaching experience and whose creative work in academic study, research work, professional practice, or a combination thereof demonstrates strong potential for continued academic contribution.

The appointment of Assistant Professor is a Full-time or Adjunct (for candidates engaged in practice or with other commitments running parallel) position for a three- year period but may be extended for another three-year term following a review process. The position is open to candidates from any location.

Positions are open in the following areas of teaching/ research specialization:

• Urban Design
• Urban Planning
• Urban Infrastructure
• Urban Transport Systems

Note: In Urban Planning and Urban Transport System, only Adjunct position is open.

Roles and responsibilities:

1. All faculty members at CEPT University will be engaged in a combination of Teaching, Research and Institutional work.
2. To contribute meaningfully to teaching by maintaining high academic standards and adopting contemporary curricula and pedagogical practices.
3. To provide leadership in curriculum development through continuous improvement and innovation in the design, articulation and delivery of courses
4. To contribute to the collegial environment at the University and to further its mission in the pursuit of excellence.
5. To advance student learning and success in alignment with the learning outcomes outlined in the curriculum.
6. To encourage collaborative learning through cross-project and cross-batch engagement among students and faculty.
7. To participate actively in reviews, evaluations, and academic assessments, providing constructive and timely feedback at various scales.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

A relevant Bachelor's Degree with min. 8 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.

OR

A relevant Master's Degree (Preferred) with min. 5 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.

OR

A relevant Doctoral Degree (Preferred). Note : Those in the final stage of their PhD may also apply

Expertise required:

1. Demonstrated excellence in academic study, professional practice, or research through their primary academic/professional endeavours in related disciplinary pursuits.
2. Ability to integrate innovative teaching and mentoring approaches within an evolving pedagogical framework.
3. Beyond technical proficiency, the capacity to cultivate in students a critical and reflective understanding of the architectural profession and its broader societal responsibilities.
4. Should have the experience of curriculum development of courses and studios at various levels of the undergraduate and postgraduate program: at foundation level, at intermediate level and at the senior level.
5. Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
