About the position

CEPT Foundation Program is envisioned to achieve excellence in the skills, abilities, and capacities required by first-year students while ensuring that they also have a strong work ethic. The program is premised on the understanding that engaging with built environments requires an in-depth understanding of one's areas of expertise and the ability to dialogue.

CEPT University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (Full time or Adjunct for candidates engaged in practice or with other commitments running parallel) position for Product Design at CEPT Foundation Program. The positions are suited for individuals and practicing professionals who are keen to seriously engage with teaching and research at CEPT.

Specialization: Product Design

(All the skills and abilities for teaching 1st year students, the required foundational skills to pursue design education specially having effective technical skills and soft skills in Design processes and systems thinking, critical thinking and problem solving, ergonomics, materials, representational skills, and hands on skills etc.)

Roles and responsibilities

1. Conducting studios for foundation-level students (mixed batches of architecture, planning, technology, design).
2. Refining curriculum and developing teaching and learning materials for foundation skills.
3. Handling of documentation and exhibition of students work.
4. Taking responsibility of drawing admissions exam papers, coordinating, and conducting these for admissions into the institution after the first year.
5. Ensuring parity in student performance and assessments by overseeing Grading, Results, Grievance Redressal, and extra teaching classes.
6. Conceptualizing, coordinating, and conducting the sketching component of the curriculum.
7. Participating in the development of teaching and learning materials.
8. Ensuring parity and communication between units and representation of each unit in the groups planning and developing the curriculum.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria: Post Educational Qualification

Minimum Experience required

• Bachelor's degree of minimum 4 years in the areas mentioned above: Min. 8 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.
• Master's degree in the areas mentioned above: Min. 5 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.
• Doctoral Degree with previous degrees in any of above or related disciplines: No experience required

Expertise Required

1. Ability to teach and guide students in 1st year with patience, persistence and an approach towards quality.
2. Ability to align with the pedagogy and student centric approach of teaching for foundation (1st year) students.
3. Should have strong organizational, analytical and communication (visual and written) skills.
4. Software knowledge MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint), Adobe (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), AutoCAD, Sketchup is required.
5. Demonstrate ability to integrate professional best practices in teaching.

Expertise Preferred:

1. Able to demonstrate good drawing and sketching abilities.
2. Should have knowledge and understanding of Product Design.
3. Should have experience in implementing changes / improvements in the curriculum.
4. In addition to technical capabilities, expertise in developing a critical understanding of the scope of the profession.
