Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out periodic material balance for various raw materials such as Base Chemicals & Packaging Mat etc.
  • Using this material balance & the sales forecast, arrive at quantity to bought of each item on weekly basis.
  • Sending enquiries for offers to multiple suppliers to get offers in time.
  • Making comparative charts / business case using quotations/offers from different suppliers/ market inputs/adding own insights. Arrive at buying decision for awarding business price/ quantity allocation & help taking calls on period of contract.
  • Supplier handling knowledge.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize inventory levels and material flow while minimizing stock-out risks.
  • Continually optimize supply chain with respect to price, inventory, supply continuity, and terms and conditions.
  • Align pricing of raw material with sales team through Product manager.
  • Periodic monitoring of benchmark price and crude prices. Tracking price trends of PP, HDPE/LDPE, Caustic Peroxide, Sulfur & some other commodities
  • Understand the impact of factors affecting the various raw materials.
  • Evaluate market conditions to alleviate and mitigate supplier and raw material risks.

Vendor development:

  • Identify and qualify potential suppliers, evaluate, and communicate performance, manage, and develop long-term partnerships with suppliers to enhance overall capabilities and result in more efficient product development and a more agile supply chain. co-ordination with production, QC & sales/marketing to ensure timely deliveries of material.
  • Vendor development from different Geographies for de-risking supply chain. Working with vendors to improve credit period, any other improvements leading to cost reduction, working capital reduction.
  • Work closely with suppliers to proactively identify opportunities for implementation of cost optimization, lead time reductions, quality enhancements, and overall improved service levels.
  • Drive sustainable procurement initiatives and system improvement projects.
  • Handle ISO/TS Audits and customer audits/ audit suppliers.

Education:

  • B. Tech /BE in Chemical Engineering
  • MBA in Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred)

Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in procuring raw materials for medium to large chemical businesses, negotiating contracts, and securing cost savings

Skills:

  • Experience with vendor development and governance processes
  • Experience with strategic sourcing tools and techniques (e.g., RFx, e-auctions, spend analysis, Strategic Sourcing Methodology)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic frameworks (e.g., Porter's Five Forces, Supplier Relationship Quadrants) to drive sourcing decisions
  • Proven experience in conducting TCO analysis, supply chain maturity assessments, and spend analysis
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage data to drive decision-making
  • Ability to assess Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and supplier performance metrics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Proven track record in negotiating, collaborating, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management
