Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly diligent and detail-oriented legal professional to join our Legal team, specializing in real estate and property due diligence within the affordable housing finance segment. The role involves end-to-end handling of legal verification, title due diligence, and loan documentation for housing finance cases, ensuring regulatory and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Title Due Diligence & Legal Verification
- Conduct legal due diligence of immovable properties and prepare Title Search & Title Investigation Reports (1330 years).
- Verify original property documents related to Home Loans, LAP, Commercial Loans, Project Finance, etc.
- Analyze and opine on property title, including government bodies like MHADA, CIDCO, SRA, and Co-operative Housing Societies.
Loan Documentation & Advisory
- Review and vet loan-related property documents submitted by applicants for housing finance.
- Draft and audit legal documentation, including APF (Approved Project Files), Indemnity Bonds, Public Notices, Affidavits, etc.
- Draft legal opinions and ensure statutory compliance as per lending institutions norms.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with internal business teams and external stakeholders including banks, financial institutions, and developers for legal clearances.
- Provide support to the credit and risk teams by offering legal insights in project finance and retail lending.
Regulatory & Legal Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Provide legal advisory support on property laws, RERA, and regulatory frameworks applicable to affordable housing.
Litigation & Legal Support (Desirable)
- (Optional) Assist in arbitration, DRT, and other court proceedings if required.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel on litigation matters.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of property laws, land title investigation, and affordable housing schemes.
- Hands-on experience with drafting and vetting of legal documents.
- Familiarity with institutional lending processes and financial documentation.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in legal research and opinion drafting.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
- LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized university.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in legal due diligence related to property and home loans.
- Exposure to affordable housing finance and experience working with financial institutions (HFCs/NBFCs/Banks) is preferred.
