Qualification : Engineering graduate in Electricals / Mechanical
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Participates in the development and implementation of business strategies for the hotel which are aligned with Radissons overall mission, vision values and strategies
- Develops and implements strategies for achieving department goals
- Monitors status regularly and adjusts strategies and programs as appropriate
- Directs the operation of the Engineering Department
- Develops plan for completing routine maintenance and renovations; coordinates work with hotel department managers
- Identifies and selects vendors as appropriate
- Creates a safe environment for guests and employees by ensuring that the hotel is maintained in accordance with safety standards
- Serves as project manager for hotel renovations; coordinates project status with corporate technical services, architects, licensing agencies, contractors and hotel management
- Evaluates forecasted business and projects and schedules staff accordingly
- Ensures hotel adheres to all regulatory and safety standards by meeting with government and insurance inspectors and taking corrective actions as needed
- Keeps all mechanical, electrical and structural blueprints up to date
- Ensures that staff is up to date on certifications and training necessary to maintain operating systems
- Prepares engineering budget; monitors actual versus budgeted expenses and takes corrective actions when necessary
- Develops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement
- Provides employees with the orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities
- Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with on-going feedback
- Provides employees with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and reach their fullest potential
- Adheres to hotel policies and procedures
- Attends work on time and as scheduled
- Follows hotel grooming, hygiene and dress standards
- Minimise safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures
- Refrain from personal conversations with other staff at the main entrance
- Keeps immediate manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
- Maintains a favourable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote co-operative and harmonious working climate
- At all time projects a favourable image of the Brand to the public
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 to 12 years work experience in the hotel industry in Engineering
- Minimum one two years supervisory experience preferred
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Able to resolve conflicts guests, supervisor and employee
- Able to collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamwork
- Advance knowledge of building management and engineering
- Excellent organizational skills
- General understanding of insurance requirements
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience working in a union environment
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and life safety operating systems
