Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and manage the rotary equipment design engineering team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and ensuring high standards of performance.
  • Organize, assign, and oversee the activities of design engineers and ensure team members have the resources and support to meet project goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure continuous professional development for team members.

Design & Development:

  • Oversee the design and development of rotary equipment (such as pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, and motors) from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and project timelines.
  • Lead the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports for rotary equipment designs.
  • Review and approve design deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting and provide solutions for design challenges related to rotary equipment.

Project Management & Coordination:

  • Work closely with project managers, procurement, and other engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical) to ensure seamless integration of rotary equipment into the overall system design.
  • Oversee project timelines, ensuring that rotary equipment design and delivery align with the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and lead design reviews, risk assessments, and design optimization sessions to ensure that the rotary equipment meets project objectives, budget, and timeline.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of rotary equipment design and provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all rotary equipment design activities comply with relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., API, ASME, ANSI), and company policies.
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures during the design phase to ensure that design deliverables meet the highest quality standards.
  • Ensure that all design work is thoroughly documented, traceable, and compliant with internal and external audits.

Cost Control & Budget Management:

  • Work closely with project teams to ensure that rotary equipment designs are developed within budget, and material, labor, and production costs are controlled.
  • Analyze cost estimates, propose design alternatives to optimize cost efficiency, and evaluate potential cost savings.
  • Track design-related expenses and ensure that any deviations from the planned budget are identified and managed.

Vendor & Supplier Management:

  • Collaborate with procurement teams to select and manage suppliers and vendors for rotary equipment and components.
  • Lead technical discussions with suppliers and contractors, ensuring the correct specifications, quality, and delivery schedules are met.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and work with vendors to resolve technical and quality issues.

Technical Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up to date with the latest developments, innovations, and trends in rotary equipment technology and design methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing best practices to enhance design efficiency and performance.
  • Encourage the adoption of new tools, technologies, and software to improve the design process.

Safety & Risk Management:

  • Ensure all rotary equipment designs meet stringent safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA) on rotary equipment design to ensure that all safety risks are mitigated during design and operational phases.
  • Promote a safety-first culture within the team and lead safety initiatives in the design and execution phases of the projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in the design, development, and engineering of rotary equipment, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role in engineering design.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in heavy industries such as power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, or similar sectors.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Rotary Equipment Expertise: Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in the design, analysis, and troubleshooting of rotary machinery (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.).
  • Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead and manage an engineering team, providing guidance and ensuring project success.
  • Design Software Proficiency: Expertise in design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PTC Creo, etc.) and simulation tools specific to rotary equipment design.
  • Industry Standards & Codes: In-depth understanding of industry standards and codes (e.g., API, ASME, ANSI, ISO) related to rotary equipment.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, including resource allocation, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex design issues and provide solutions.
