This role offers significant responsibility in managing end-to-end sourcing and contract lifecycle activities within the critical Technology category.
Position Summary:
As an Assistant Category Manager - Technology Procurement, you will be instrumental in managing the global pipeline of technology requirements, analyzing spend and processes to deploy category strategies effectively, and ensuring full visibility of the procurement portfolio. This will encompass end-to-end sourcing activities, from initial scoping and RFI/RFP management to contract documentation, post-award contract management, including monitoring project progress until successful completion, and robust stakeholder management. You will be a key driver for technology projects and categories, actively supporting workstreams for various Maersk business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing & Project Leadership:Lead and execute end-to-end procurement projects in line with strategic sourcing and category management best practices for Technology categories.
- Work closely with cross-functional Technology teams and stakeholders across different departments, business units, and geographies to thoroughly understand and define requirements.
- Support the development of impactful procurement strategies for Technology categories.
- Manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously with aggressive schedules and demands.
- Analysis & Insights:Understand and effectively communicate internal and external risk factors, schedule constraints, budget considerations, cost drivers, and conduct detailed should-cost analyses.
- Map and analyze data on current spend patterns, identifying key cost drivers and optimization opportunities within complex marketplaces.
- Conduct in-depth market and supplier research to support the development and refinement of category strategies.
- Supplier & Contract Management:Define and lead supplier qualification processes, sourcing evaluations, and decision criteria in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Manage and execute RFI/RFPs (Request for Information/Proposal), acting as the single point of contact for suppliers during negotiations.
- Prepare and negotiate contracts in close collaboration with legal counsel and the project team, facilitating technical scope discussions.
- Enable a high level of engagement and collaboration with suppliers throughout the lifecycle.
- Support business functions and units in resolving supplier delivery, quality measurement, commercial, or contractual issues post-sign-off, and actively manage supplier relationships.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Process Improvement:Manage senior stakeholder (CXO level) engagement via steering committees to drive sourcing projects and category management objectives.
- Establish strong alignment on procurement processes and strategies with all relevant stakeholders.
- Improve the integration of procurement strategy, process discipline, and best practices into the overall project lifecycle.
- Market Intelligence:Gather and analyze business and market intelligence to assist strategic decision-making for the technology category.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience:A minimum of 5-6 years of active involvement in Technology procurement and category management activities.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract lifecycle management, demand-to-delivery management, project management, and stakeholder management.
- Technology Procurement Knowledge:Strong knowledge of the Software and IT Services industry, including Hardware, Software as a Service (SaaS), IT managed services, Industrial Operational Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. This experience could be from a vendor side or a similar position in another global company.
- Ideally, a background as a Category Manager, Procurement Manager, Management Consultant, or Technical Consultant in the IT/Technology field, with a proven track record.
- Skills:Excellent strategic negotiation skills and solid contractual legal knowledge to deliver on procurement projects and category lifecycle management.
- Technical understanding of various IT/Tech concepts and industry trends.
- Proactive collaboration with suppliers, business partners, and key stakeholders, demonstrating a high level of urgency and delivery in a time-critical environment.
- Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders efficiently.
- Strong business and commercial acumen.
