We are seeking a results-oriented Staples Buyer/Category Manager to lead our regional business P&L in Hyderabad. This role is pivotal in driving growth for essential categories (flour, rice, pulses, sugar, etc.) by balancing aggressive sourcing strategies with meticulous inventory management.
About the Role
Manage the end-to-end regional P&L for the Staples category, focusing on revenue growth and margin expansion.
Responsibilities
- P&L Ownership: Manage the end-to-end regional P&L for the Staples category, focusing on revenue growth and margin expansion.
- Strategic Sourcing: Lead new vendor development and negotiate Terms of Trade (TOT) and Joint Business Plans (JBP) to ensure competitive pricing and supply chain resilience.
- Inventory & Ops: Maintain optimum Days of Hygiene (DOH) and manage aging stock to ensure high turnover and minimal wastage.
- Assortment Strategy: Conduct range rationalization to ensure the right product mix for the local Hyderabad market across various channels.
- Pricing & Growth: Execute pricing strategies across segments and collaborate with store teams to improve footfalls and in-store walk-in conversions.
- Data-Driven Leadership: Utilize data analytics to identify market trends, cost optimization opportunities, and COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) improvements.
Qualifications
- Experience: 57 years of core experience in FMCG Category Management or Staples Buying.
Required Skills
- Skills: Expert-level negotiation, stakeholder management, and deep knowledge of the Hyderabad regional supplier landscape.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex data points into actionable business decisions.
- Communication: Strong collaborative skills to work across cross-functional teams (Logistics, Sales, and Finance).
