Overview
The Software Test & Verification Engineer is responsible for validating software functionality, requirement reviews, and supporting high‑quality releases. The role includes test planning, test design, executing manual/automated tests, defect analysis, documentation, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Your role
- End‑to‑end software verification activities, ensuring all verification activities are delivered to the required quality standards.
- Own and drive software testing activities, including the definition and implementation of test strategies for in‑house-developed non‑COTS software tools.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve software processes, tools, and techniques to ensure robust and dependable verification and test aligned to rail industry and safety‑critical standards.
- Collaborate closely with the software development team to advance automation across verification and test workflows, improving efficiency and consistency.
- Manage configuration and change control activities across the software team, ensuring rigorous documentation and traceability throughout the lifecycle.
- Demonstrated strength in testing is a value add, with excellent communication, problem‑solving, and professional report‑writing abilities.
- Experience in developing and improving software processes, including producing high‑quality assurance evidence and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of continuous integration, configuration management, and modern development environments, with the ability to embed best practices into team workflows.
- Hands‑on experience delivering software in compliance with safety‑critical standards (e.g., EN50128, DO‑178C).
- Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Bamboo, JIRA, and SVN is highly desirable.
- Degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in CS, Electronics, IT, or related field.
- Knowledge of STLC, SDLC, and testing methodologies.
- Experience with test management/defect tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps).
- Hands‑on manual and/or automation testing exposure.
- Understanding of Git/SVN version control.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with embedded, real‑time, or safety‑critical systems.
- Familiarity with Python, Java, C#, or similar scripting/coding languages.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, GitLab).
- Knowledge of standards like EN 50128, DO‑178C.
- ISTQB Certification.
