The position shall be responsible for overall retail sales strategy, market share enhancement and control of sales activities to meet business targets for Engine & Genset business in the assigned area/region, under the guidance of Corporate Head – Sales & Marketing. The incumbent will focus on dealer/channel management, territory development and execution of business plans to drive sustainable, profitable growth in the assigned geography.
Key Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets (volume, value, contribution) for Engines & Gensets in the assigned area/territory.
- Implement retail sales strategies, schemes and initiatives as per corporate business plan and monitor adherence at dealer level.
- Identify and develop new dealers, sub-dealers and retail channels in uncovered or under-served markets to strengthen distribution reach.
- Drive new customer acquisition in key segments (residential, commercial, small industrial, infrastructure, etc.) and explore new market applications for DG sets.
- Ensure effective dealer management: appointment, onboarding, performance review, motivation, inventory planning and claim/credit management.
- Plan and execute branding and publicity initiatives at the area level (retailer meets, product demos, local events, site visits) to enhance brand visibility.
- Monitor, analyse and understand competitive activities in the region, including pricing, schemes, new product launches and communicate inputs for business strategy.
- Coordinate with internal sales support, marketing, service and logistics teams for timely order processing, dispatches, installation and customer support.
- Track and drive collection efficiency, overdue control and adherence to commercial terms; support price revision implementation in the area.
- Maintain updated knowledge of product features, applications and technical benefits, and ensure the same is effectively communicated to dealers and customers.
- Prepare periodic MIS/area reports (sales performance, pipeline, competitor activity, collections) and present to management as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards and statutory norms in all area operations.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any stream.
- MBA/PG Diploma in Sales and Marketing from a reputed institute is desirable.
Experience
- Min. 5–7 years of experience in DG business of 5 KVA to 500 KVA Gensets/Engines in retail domain, with at least 2–3 years in an area/territory sales management role.
