We are seeking a skilled AS/400 Programmer with 4 to 5 years of experience to develop, maintain, and support applications on the IBM AS/400 (IBM i) platform. The candidate will work closely with business and technical teams to deliver efficient and reliable solutions that support core business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and maintain applications on the IBM AS/400 platform using RPG, CL, and other related languages.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and programs.
- Enhance existing applications and optimize code for performance improvements.
- Debug and resolve issues reported in production and development environments.
- Work with DB2/400 database, write efficient SQL queries and manage data access.
- Participate in system design, code reviews, and technical documentation preparation.
- Support batch and online applications, ensuring timely processing and data integrity.
- Collaborate with other developers, business analysts, and users to ensure seamless application functionality.
- Assist in migration and modernization efforts of legacy systems, where applicable.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot technical issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 4 to 5 years of experience programming on IBM AS/400 (IBM i) platform.
- Strong expertise in RPG (ILE RPG), CL programming, and DDS for screen and report design.
- Good understanding of DB2/400 database and proficiency in SQL.
- Familiarity with batch processing, job scheduling, and spool file handling.
- Experience with debugging and performance tuning of AS/400 applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Good communication skills to interact with technical teams and business users.
Preferred Skills (Good to Have):
- Experience with SQLRPGLE and ILE programming concepts.
- Knowledge of integrating AS/400 systems with modern technologies (APIs, web services).
- Exposure to modernization tools or techniques (like Synon, Java integration).
- Experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies.
