Job Summary

The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth, achieving targets, and managing all sales activities within a designated geographical area for Becton Dickinson India. This role involves leading a team, developing strategic sales plans, and fostering strong customer relationships to expand market share and contribute to the company's overall success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and plans to achieve and exceed sales targets and objectives for the assigned territory.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of sales representatives, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations to ensure optimal team performance.
  • Identify new business opportunities, cultivate new accounts, and expand the customer base within the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key customers, distributors, and healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct regular market analysis, competitor monitoring, and provide feedback on market trends, customer needs, and product opportunities.
  • Manage sales forecasting, budgeting, and reporting activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product management, and customer service teams to ensure seamless customer experience and product delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards, as well as relevant industry regulations.
  • Represent BD India at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote products and services.
  • Effectively manage territory expenses and resources to optimize profitability.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in sales role within the healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian healthcare market, including distribution channels and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and develop strategic action plans.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
