Role Overview
The Area Sales Manager Retail will be responsible for driving sales performance, operational excellence, and customer experience across multiple retail stores within the assigned territory. The role requires strong leadership capabilities, analytical skills, and hands-on retail management experience to ensure consistent achievement of business targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Management
- Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets across all stores in the assigned region.
- Develop and execute territory-level sales strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.
- Monitor store-wise KPIs including revenue, conversion rate, average ticket size (ATV), footfall, and productivity.
- Identify performance gaps and implement corrective action plans.
Retail Operations
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, visual merchandising standards, and brand guidelines across all stores.
- Conduct regular store visits to review operations, sales performance, and team effectiveness.
- Oversee inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stock-outs or excess inventory.
- Coordinate with supply chain and central teams for smooth store operations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor Store Managers and retail sales teams.
- Drive performance culture through structured reviews, target setting, and continuous feedback.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of store staff.
- Ensure high levels of employee engagement and retention within the region.
Customer Experience
- Ensure delivery of superior in-store customer experience aligned with brand values.
- Monitor customer feedback and resolve escalations effectively.
- Drive initiatives to improve conversion and repeat business.
Market Development
- Identify expansion opportunities within the territory.
- Track competitor activities, local market trends, and consumer insights.
- Execute local store marketing initiatives to drive walk-ins and brand visibility.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare periodic sales reports and performance reviews for senior management.
- Use data-driven insights to improve store productivity and profitability.
- Maintain accurate forecasting and territory planning.
- Audit Reports of Each Stores During Visit.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field.
- 47 years of experience in retail sales management, with at least 2 years managing multiple stores.
- Experience in consumer durables, furniture, mattress, lifestyle, or D2C retail brands preferred.
- Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
